Although most cases of Dengue show mild symptoms, sometimes patients experience severe symptoms as well. Warning symptoms of severe Dengue can include severe stomach pain, vomiting with blood in it, rapid breathing, bleeding gums and feeling tired and restless. A person with any of these symptoms should be examined immediately to avoid complications and possible risk of death. Anyone could be affected with Dengue with just one bite from an infected mosquito, even if they only travel for a short period of time.

Based on laboratory test results, Grace was diagnosed with severe Dengue. She was hospitalized and needed several weeks off work to recover.
