Moms and Dads, dengue is a disease caused by the dengue virus, transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.3 However, up to now, there is no specific treatment for dengue!6

Facts about Medical Treatment by Doctors: 

The most common and recommended treatment for dengue fever is medical care provided by doctors. Doctors will make accurate diagnosis and provide appropriate treatment based on the patient's condition. Here are some important aspects of medical treatment for dengue fever: 

a. Intravenous Fluid Administration: Patients with dengue fever often experience dehydration due to an increase in body temperature and fluid loss due to the fever. Doctors will administer intravenous fluids to maintain the body's fluid balance.8

b. Symptomatic Treatment: Doctors may prescribe fever and pain relievers to reduce symptoms of fever and pain to patients.4

 

c. Supervision and Monitoring: Doctors will regularly supervise and monitor the patient's condition, including checking their blood pressure, platelet counts, and other signs of bleeding. It is important to identify the disease progression and take appropriate action if the condition worsens.8

 

Alternative Treatment:

 Apart from medical treatment that is referred to, some people may seek alternative treatments for dengue fever. However, it is important to be aware that alternative treatments do not have a strong scientific basis and are not recommended by relevant health authorities.1 Some alternative treatments that is often related to dengue fever are:

 

a. Use of Medicinal Plants: Some medicinal plants have been claimed to have antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects that can help relieve symptoms of dengue fever; such as turmeric, olive oil, berries, and others.9 However, their effectiveness and safety have not been scientifically proven.7

 

b. Use of Herbal Supplements: Some herbal supplements are claimed to boost the immune system and help fight viral infections. However, it is important to consult with a doctor before consuming these supplements, as they may react to medications.2

 

When facing the threat of dengue, it is important for us to understand the various treatment options available. This article has discussed the treatment of dengue, including facts about alternative treatment and medical treatment by doctors. The discussion emphasizes the importance of taking appropriate preventive measures.

 

One way to do this is by implementing the 3M Plus concept and dengue vaccination. 3M Plus is an abbreviation for (Menguras, Menutup, Mendaur Ulang)  Draining, Covering, and Recycling, and the "Plus" involves preventing mosquito breeding in our surrounding environment.5 In addition to the 3M Plus, vaccination is also one of the ways to prevent the risk of dengue. Vaccination can help boost the immune system against the dengue virus and reduce the likelihood of serious infection. Yet, it is important to consult directly with a doctor before getting vaccinated.

 

Doctors are trained medical professionals with experience in providing accurate health advice. They can provide precise information about dengue vaccination, including its benefits, risks, and proper schedules. Doctors can also evaluate individual health conditions and provide suitable recommendations.

 

In dealing with dengue, it's important to take integrated steps, including appropriate medical treatment and active prevention efforts. Let's join forces against dengue by implementing the various dengue prevention measures. By taking the right preventive measures, we can protect ourselves, our families, and our communities from the threat of dengue.
